Servite Running Back Headed for West Point

Lamar Mason, running back for Servite, committed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Servite Athletic Director Larry Walker said Tuesday.
Mason averaged eight yards per carry for the Friars, gaining 1,418 yards. He also averaged 16.3 yards per reception and scored nine touchdowns.
* Saddleback College defensive lineman Blake Curci has accepted a scholarship from Utah State, Saddleback football Coach Mark McElroy said. Curci attended Laguna Hills High.
HONORS
Outfielder Darin Erstad of the Angels and Mighty Duck goaltender Guy Hebert will be honored with the Gene Autry Humanitarian Award at the fifth annual Anaheim Chamber of Commerce Super Sports Mixer Thursday at the El Bekal Shrine Center, located at 1320 S. Sanderson Ave., Anaheim.
Ceremonies will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and reservations may be made by calling (714) 758-0222.
In addition to the pro athletes, 44 county high school student-athletes will also be honored for their community service. They are:
