Harrison Scores 44 to Lead Hope International to Win

Jamie Harrison scored 44 points Tuesday to lead the Hope International women’s basketball team to a 70-67 victory, its first in the Golden State Athletic Conference since joining last season.

Harrison, second in scoring in the NAIA coming into the week with a 23.9-point average, made six of 17 three-points attempts and 14 of 17 free throws.

In another GSAC game:

Azusa Pacific 76, Vanguard 68--Catherine Solorio scored 20 points and Jacqueline Godoy had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the first-place Cougars (14-5, 10-0). Becki Huddle had 20 points, seven assists and four steals, and Kelly Boeke added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Vanguard (13-6, 6-4).

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Azusa Pacific 80, Vanguard 66--The Lions (5-16, 1-9) never recovered after falling behind by 16 points at intermission. Four players scored in double figures for first-place Azusa Pacific (22-2, 9-1).

Point Loma Nazarene 89, Concordia 84--The Eagles (8-12, 2-8) made it close with a strong second-half surge. Adam Friezen scored 19 points and Brad Degrenier added 18 for Concordia. Point Loma Nazarene is 13-7, 6-4.

In nonconference baseball:

Cal Lutheran 12, Vanguard 8--Cal Lutheran jumped out to a 12-1 lead in the sixth inning behind two home runs by left fielder Tom Galante (six RBI) and solo homers from Jeff Meyers and Paul Engel.

Concordia 10, Redlands 2--Dave Paterson pitched five innings, striking out four and allowing one hit, to get the win for host Concordia (2-0). Jim Stolberg had two doubles and three RBI and leadoff hitter Charles Chatman had three singles and drove in two runs for the Eagles.
