Selling Out the Children
Re “Info, Please, Mr. Romer,” editorial, June 26: The recent buyout of former Chief Operating Officer Allen Solomon’s contract is indicative of the inability of some to translate the amount involved to services for children. The Los Angeles Unified School District allocates approximately $20 per student a year for textbooks. A buyout of $195,000 equals the amount allocated to textbooks for 9,750 students. Tell the 9,750 affected children that this is an insignificant amount.
