Dallas Burn goalkeeper Matt Jordan earned his sixth shutout this season and Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman earned his first Saturday as the teams played to a 0-0 tie.

The Galaxy (7-4-5) and Burn (6-6-2) also played a scoreless draw on May 19.

Hartman was tested throughout by the Burn. He made a diving one-handed stop on a shot by Oscar Pareja in the 19th minute and finished with seven saves.

“I was able to come up with some saves today,” Hartman said. “Luckily, the defense was keeping the ball in front of them and there weren’t many clear opportunities behind the defense. I think [Jason] Kreis hit one in the first half and it was a good thing that I put my head behind the ball because I took it off the nose.”

In the 60th minute, a shot by Burn forward Ariel Graziani hit the right post.

“I thought we played well on both sides of the ball today,” Burn Coach Mike Jeffries said. “We moved the ball around and created a lot of chances. I’ve got to give credit to Kevin Hartman. He was outstanding today and made several key stops.”

The Burn’s Kreis had the best scoring opportunity in overtime, but his shot sailed over the crossbar in the 95th minute.

Jordan preserved the shutout when he stopped Isaias Bardales’ run on goal in the 85th minute.

The Burn outshot the Galaxy, 26-10.

The Galaxy’s Marvin Quijano, who had a hand in four U.S. Open Cup goals on Wednesday, left the game at halftime because of an apparent sprained knee and was replaced by Bardales.

The Galaxy was without Cobi Jones and Greg Vanney, who were on U.S. national team duty.
