Alcott Admitted to Hospital With Chest Pains

Hall of Fame golfer Amy Alcott was hospitalized Sunday after experiencing chest pains before the final round of the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic.

Alcott was listed in fair condition at Flower Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Colleen Grubb said.

“She’s feeling much better,” Grubb said. “She’s still undergoing some tests and will be spending the night. Until [doctors] get results of all those tests, I think they’re just being careful.”

Grubb said Alcott requested that hospital officials not disclose information about her symptoms and diagnosis.

Alcott, 45, was scheduled to tee off in the morning after shooting rounds of 71, 72 and 71 for a one-over-par 214.

Alcott has won 29 LPGA tournaments, including five majors, in her 27-year career.

She was profiled in The (Toledo) Blade on Sunday. In the article, the player from Santa Monica said she was cutting back on her schedule.

“I was a player who played a full schedule for 22 years,” she said. “The last few years I have just kind of cut back because I was tired of traveling, and a little bit burned out. And I was kind of reassessing my life.”

The Farr Classic was only her seventh tournament this year.
