Man, 37, Dies While Competing in Triathlon

A 37-year-old civilian died Saturday while competing in the Camp Pendleton International Triathlon, the Marine Corps said.

The man, whose name was withheld until his family can be notified, died shortly after finishing the 1.5-kilometer swim. The annual contest includes a 40-kilometer bicycle race and 10-kilometer run.

Oceanside paramedics and an off-duty doctor were unable to revive the man, officials said.
