The Stanford-bound senior broke a 17-year-old Division I record by .03 seconds, winning her fourth consecutive title in the event.

Won the Division I title and set a state record, breaking Jenna Johnson’s time of 53.95 set in 1984.

Set the Division I record, breaking the mark of 568.10 set by Erica Sorgi in 1997. It was the second straight title for the South Carolina-bound diver.

200 MEDLEY RELAY: San Clemente: Lauren O’Neil, So., Kristen Caverly, Jr., Stephanie Chambers, Sr., Sarah Jones, Sr.; 1:48.20--Set a South Coast League record and finished second in Division I to Irvine’s national record-breaking team.

200 FREESTYLE: Erin Volcan, Canyon, Jr., 1:49.41--Edged out Newport Harbor’s Carly Geehr by 0.01 seconds for the Division I title.

200 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Kaitlin Sandeno, El Toro, Sr., 2:00.16--Didn’t compete in this event in the Southern Section finals, but out-touched Kristen Caverly for the South Coast League title.

50 FREESTYLE: Courtney Cashion, Irvine, Fr., 23.57--Finished second in Division I to San Clemente’s Jones, who finished second to Cashion in the 100 freestyle.

100 BUTTERFLY: Flora Kong, Irvine, Jr., 55.42--The transfer from Japan finished second to El Toro’s Sandeno in the Division I final.

100 FREESTYLE: Sarah Jones, San Clemente, Sr., 50.45--Led Irvine’s Cashion at the 50-yard mark with a 24.24 split, but finished second to the freshman.

500 FREESTYLE: Jane Imagane, Troy, So., 4:54.64--Won her second consecutive Division II title in event, 0.10 seconds faster than her winning time last season.

200 FREESTYLE RELAY: Irvine: Diana MacManus, Fr., Miho Umezawa, So., Tanya Nielsen, Fr., Stephanie Hsiao, Sr.; 1:38.26--Finished second in Division I to San Clemente’s state record-breaking squad.

100 BACKSTROKE: Nicole Mackey, Newport Harbor, So., 55.21--Broke the Division I meet record, but it wasn’t enough to beat Irvine’s MacManus.

100 BREASTSTROKE: Erin Sieper, Esperanza, Jr., 1:01.89--Finished second to San Clemente’s Caverly, who credited Sieper’s push with her breaking the state record.

400 FREESTYLE RELAY: Newport Harbor: Carly Geehr, Jr., Hayley Peirsol, So., Mai Tajima, So., Nicole Mackey, So.; 3:34.94--Took second in Division I to Irvine’s state record-breaking team.

DIVING: Tiffany Manning, Capistrano Valley, Sr., 600.25 points--Her score also bested Sorgi’s record, but wasn’t enough to top Brennan.

SCOTT HINMAN, GIRLS’ COACH OF THE YEAR

The Irvine coach led the Vaqueros to their fifth consecutive championship winning the Division I finals by more than 100 points. The Vaqueros backed a strong group of veterans with three dominating newcomers, breaking national, state and division records along the way.
