Tennis

Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo advanced to the doubles semifinals of the Stella Artois Grasscourt Championships with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over top-seeded Todd Woodbridge of Australia and Wayne Ferreira of South Africa at the Queen’s Club in London.

The twins have a record of 23-13 this year. They are using the Stella Artois tournament as preparation for Wimbledon, which begins in two weeks.

Golf

Jane Park, 14, of La Crescenta shot one-over par 72 at Winnetka Golf Club and holds a one-stroke lead after two rounds in the American Junior Golf Assn.’s Chicago Junior tournament in Winnetka, Ill.

“My putting was a real strong point for me,” said Park, who is at 76-72--148 entering the final round today. “I was making most of my five- and six-footers, and that was a real key. I was also hitting my drives a lot straighter and hitting more fairways.”

Track and Field

State champions Seth Amoo of Highland, Chris Morgan of Taft, Jamil Smith of Palmdale and Allyson Felix of L.A. Baptist will compete in the National Scholastic outdoor championships at North Carolina State today and Saturday.

Amoo is entered in the boys’ 200 meters, with Morgan in the 110 high hurdles and Smith in the triple jump.

Felix, who won the girls’ 100 in the state championships at Sacramento City College’s Hughes Stadium on June 2, is entered in that event and the 200.

Anita Siraki of Hoover, the top-ranked two-miler in the nation last year, will defend her title in that event and will also run in the mile and distance medley relay.

Melissa Astete of Birmingham, the region record-holder in the girls’ pole vault at 13 feet, will compete in that event.

Cross-Country

Thousand Oaks High will host a series of weekly meets at Waverly Park beginning June 21.

The meets, which will start at 6:30 p.m., also will be held on June 28 and July 5, 12 and 19.

Softball

Southern California Diamondbacks, an 18-and-under travel team, is holding tryouts at Drifill Park in Oxnard on Saturday from 12:30-3 p.m.

Motorsports

Irwindale Speedway is holding the Larry Krieger Memorial for Grand American Modifieds on Saturday night.

Krieger, of Thousand Oaks, was Grand American Modified champion in Irwindale Speedway’s inaugural 1999 season. He died on Feb. 17 from a brain infection after a five-month illness.

Football

The Beyond 2000 Elite Football Camp will be held June 23-24 and July 7-8 at El Camino College in Torrance. Former Montclair Prep and Stanford standout Eliel Swinton and former Crespi and UCLA defensive back Shaun Williams are among the guests scheduled to appear. Cost is $100.
