Rapid Growth Means New ZIP Code for 16,000

From Times Staff Reports

Rapid growth in the Santa Clarita Valley has resulted in two new ZIP Codes for more than 16,000 customers, effective Sunday.

, About 11,000 residents and businesses in the 91351 ZIP Code will change to the new 91387. Another 5,100 customers in the 91350 ZIP Code will become the new 91390, said the Postal Service.

Letters were sent to everyone affected by the changes. Major mailers, such as large companies and magazine publishers, will also be notified by the Postal Service.

For the next year, automated mail sorting equipment will recognize and sort mail with both the old and new ZIP Codes. After that, mail with an old ZIP Code will still be delivered, but may be delayed.
