No-Hitter by Plouffe in His Crespi Debut

Trevor Plouffe, a 14-year-old freshman, pitched a five-inning no-hitter Friday in his high school debut, striking out four and walking one in Crespi High’s 10-0 victory over Leuzinger in a first-round game of the El Segundo baseball tournament.

The game was halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Plouffe, brother of Marshall Plouffe, a former Crespi pitcher, didn’t know he would start until shortly before game time.

Damian Alonzo was three for three with three runs batted in for Crespi.

In San Fernando Valley tournament games:

Westlake 11, Wilson 1--Justin Blaine pitched a one-hitter for the Warriors in a five-inning game at Westlake.

Tyler Adamczyk hit a two-run home run and finished with four RBIs, and Mike Nickeas homered and had three RBIs.

Cleveland 12, Notre Dame 1--Steven Boyer’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run third inning at Notre Dame in a game called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

Andrew Strickland and Byron Grubman each had two hits for Cleveland (1-0).

Lancaster 2, Poly 2--In a battle of preseason top 10 teams, Eddie Baeza of Poly struck out nine in a game halted in the top of the eighth inning because of darkness at Poly. Tyler Bain and Justin Zarley of Lancaster combined on a one-hitter.

Glendale 11, Monroe 0--Robert Vargas and Ruben Escobar combined on a no-hitter for the Dynamiters (1-0) in a game called in the sixth inning because of the 10-run rule at Glendale.

Bryan Aguila had four hits, including a grand slam and a double.

Kennedy 5, Quartz Hill 4--Chris Schreiber’s RBI single with two outs and two strikes lifted the Cougars (2-0) at Kennedy.

Schreiber hit a two-run double to tie the score, 4-4, in the third inning.

Adam Geery of Kennedy struck out six in five innings of relief.

In Westside tournament pool-play games:

Hart 3, Moorpark 0--Phil Tognetti (1-0) gave up four hits and struck out three in five innings for the Indians (1-0) at Moorpark.

Bill Susdorf had two hits and one RBI for Hart.

Sylmar 2, Saugus 1--Jamie Mah and Marco Estrada (1-0) combined on a one-hitter for the Spartans at Sylmar.

Sylmar (1-0) scored twice in the sixth.

Chatsworth 7, Oxnard 6--George Spadier’s two-run double in the fifth gave the Chancellors (1-0) a victory in a game called after six innings because of darkness at Chatsworth.

Brandon Stuart hit a three-run home run in the third to give Oxnard (0-1) a 3-0 lead.

Alemany 3, L.A. University 2--Sophomore Andres Fernandez singled home Mike Strazzeri from second base with two out in the ninth inning to give the Indians (1-0) a victory at Alemany.

Strazzeri (1-0) allowed no hits and struck out two in 1 2/3 innings. He had two hits and an RBI.

Granada Hills 5, Calabasas 1--John Beal’s two-run double highlighted a four-run sixth inning at Granada Hills.

Eddie Degerman pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Canyon 14, Beverly Hills 1--Jake Coash and Eric Ashbrook combined on a one-hitter for the Cowboys at Canyon in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Coash allowed an infield hit and struck out eight in four innings. Ashbrook struck out the side in the fifth.

Keith Leduc had two hits, including a two-run home run.

Royal 13, Mary Star 3--Nick Jewell had two home runs and seven RBIs at Royal.

Jewell had a three-run home run in the first, a two-run homer in the third and a two-run single in the fourth for Royal (1-0).

San Fernando 8, Ventura 0--Jess Moreno pitched a two-hitter for the Tigers (1-0) at San Fernando.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Chatsworth def. Palisades, 15-7, 15-11, 11-15, 15-11--Middle blockers Matt Cornell and Matt Gudis combined for 27 kills for the Chancellors in a nonleague opener.

Cornell had 16 kills and Gudis had 11 for the Chancellors.
