Billy Martin had four hits and four runs batted in and hit his seventh home run of the season, but the Modesto A’s beat the Lancaster JetHawks, 5-4, before 1,705 Tuesday at the Hangar. Scott Barber (2-1) took the loss (14-11).

Matt Kata of the Lancaster JetHawks was selected the California League’s batter of the week for April 23-29. Kata was seven for 21 with two home runs and nine RBIs.

Lancaster placed outfielder Steve Woodward on the disabled list Tuesday. He was replaced by outfielder Jamie Gann, who was demoted from double-A El Paso.
