Music
Like many of us, American composer and pianist Lukas Foss was deeply moved by reading “The Diary of Anne Frank.” But unlike the average reader, he was able to turn his admiration into a musical work, “Elegy for Anne Frank,” on this Pacific Symphony program led by Carl St.Clair. There are two versions of the work--one for orchestra and one for orchestra and narrator. Foss’ daughter, actress Eliza Foss, will be the narrator here. The program also will include the West Coast premiere of composer-in-residence Richard Danielpour’s “Voices of Remembrance” and works by Mozart and Leonard Bernstein.
* Pacific Symphony, Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. 8 p.m. $19 to $52. ($12 student or senior rush.) (714) 556-2787.

Dance
The second annual Fiesta Latina dance, music and cultural event at Orange Coast College will feature 13 student dancers in a one-hour performance. In their elaborate costumes, they will perform mambo from Cuba; the cumbia from Colombia and Venezuela; the jarocho from Mexico; the bomba, salsa and Spanish danza from Puerto Rico; and the samba from Brazil. The dances are arranged by Fiesta Latina artistic director and OCC dance professor Jose Costas, a native of Puerto Rico and former principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico of New York. The performances and cultural events are timed with Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
* Fiesta Latina, Robert B. Moore Theatre, Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. 8 p.m. Free. (714) 432-5506, Ext.4.
