Bacani Leads Titans Past San Luis Obispo
David Bacani led off with a home run and Jon Smith went 7 2/3 innings for the victory as Cal State Fullerton beat Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 7-3, Friday in a Big West Conference baseball game at San Luis Obispo.
Bacani drove the second pitch of the game over the left field wall for his fourth home run of the season. Bacani finished with two hits, four runs, a stolen base and a run batted in. He also walked twice, giving him 141 in his career to break the school record set by Phil Nevin.
Smith (9-1) struck out four and gave up three earned runs, and was relieved by Chad Cordero in the eighth. Cordero didn’t give up a hit in 1 1/3 innings and earned his 10th save.
Jason Corapci had two RBIs and Mike Rouse two hits for the Titans (36-11, 9-1). Kevin Tillman had three hits, including a two-run home run off Smith in the eighth, for the Mustangs (28-18, 6-4).
