Frances Santin of Cal State Northridge, a semifinalist in the women’s 400-meter hurdles in the U.S. Olympic track and field trials last year, will make her collegiate debut in the 1,500 in the Occidental Invitational on Saturday night.

Santin, a junior, leads the Big Sky Conference in the 400 hurdles at 56.64 and 800 at 2:05.82, is ranked second in the 100 hurdles with a wind-aided 13.88 and third in the 400 at 55.17.

“We’re just having fun,” Northridge assistant Jeff McAuley said about the 1,500. “We’re trying to run 70-second laps for the first three laps and take it from there.”

Clinton Lane, who ran 46.80 in 1999, and Kevin Hendrix, 46.81 in 1988, rank first and second on the all-time Northridge list.
