Purse: $4.5 million. Winner’s share: $810,000.

Television: The Golf Channel and Fox Sports Net (today-Friday, 1-3:30 p.m. and TGC 5-7:30 p.m.) Channel 2 (Saturday, 1-3 p.m.; Sunday, noon-3 p.m.).

Last year: Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik won with a par on the third hole of a playoff with Davis Love III. Phil Mickelson was eliminated on the second extra hole.

Last week: David Toms, a Louisiana native who played for Louisiana State, won the Compaq Classic in New Orleans, closing with an eight-under 64 for a two-stroke victory over Mickelson.

Notes: Tiger Woods, the 1997 winner, is making his first start since winning the Masters for his fourth consecutive major title. He has won his last three tournaments. Last year, he closed with a 63 to finish a stroke out of the playoff. . . . The final two rounds will be played at Las Colinas. Cottonwood Valley’s No. 1 green is shaped like Texas, complete with an Oklahoma bunker and Gulf of Mexico pond. . . . The Colonial is next week in Fort Worth.

Last year: Pat Hurst led wire-to-wire, finishing with a 13-under 275 total for a four-stroke victory over Juli Inkster.

Last week: Annika Sorenstam won for the fifth time, beating fellow Swede Sophie Gustafson on the second hole of a playoff in the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship.

Notes: Sorenstam is seeking her sixth victory in her last seven starts. She finished second in her first two tournaments and was 43rd three weeks ago in Lincoln, Calif. . . . Australia’s Karrie Webb is making her first LPGA Tour start since tying for second in the Nabisco Championship on March 25. She successfully defended her Nichirei Cup title last week in Japan. . . . The Champions Classic is next week in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Last year: Larry Nelson won the second of six 2000 titles, holding off Tom Watson by three strokes.

Last week: Bruce Fleisher won the Home Depot Invitational for the third consecutive year, beating John Bland by three strokes.

Notes: After two days of stroke play, the 78-man field will be cut to the low 16 players for match play. Players will be seeded based on their 36-hole scores. . . . Nelson, a two-time winner this year, also won the 1998 tournament. . . . The TD Waterhouse Championship is next week in Kansas City.
