Suspect Sought in Deaths of Woman, 3 Children
Police hunted Wednesday for a man accused of shooting to death a woman and three of her grandchildren the day before.
Roger Leroy Johnson, 48, is the ex-boyfriend of the mother of two of the children. He is missing four fingers on his right hand.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department said Rhonda Burks had left her children with their grandmother, Pearl Burks, on Tuesday while she tried to get a restraining order against Johnson.
In addition to Pearl Burks, also killed were Bobby Burks, 4; Mikhala Burks, 5; and Ashley Burks, 6. The two girls were sisters. The youngest victim was their cousin. Johnson was not believed to be the father of any of the children, officials said.
