Titans Win, 1-0, on Lucatero’s Hit
Monica Lucatero’s one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Jenny Topping from second base and gave Cal State Fullerton a 1-0 victory over Texas Tech in an NCAA softball regional Thursday at Tucson.
Topping’s one-out double set the stage for Lucatero’s winning hit. It was Topping’s 19th double of the season, equaling the school record set by Sue Lewis in 1981.
Christy Robitaille (10-1) pitched a three-hitter and struck out six for Fullerton.
“In warmups I struggled a little bit because of the heat,” Robitaille said. “However, I have played here with the heat before and I knew that if I did it once, I could do it again.”
Amanda Renfro (32-18) took the loss for Texas Tech (35-23).
