Driver Dies After Being Thrown From Car

A motorist hospitalized after he was thrown from his car in a Costa Mesa crash Monday has died, police and coroner’s officials said .
John Lopez, 29, of Corona del Mar died about 2 a.m. Tuesday at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Orange County coroner’s officials said. Lopez lost control of his Mustang convertible while driving on the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor, CHP Officer Katrina Lundgren said. The car went down an embankment and landed on the San Diego Freeway, ejecting Lopez.
