Plan Ahead
* Opa!--The Ventura County Greek Festival, presented by St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Camarillo, will return June 8-10 to Camarillo Airport, 400 Skyway Drive. The 23rd annual event will offer live music, dancing, games and food. On June 9, there will be 5K and 10K runs, plus a one-mile fun run. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. for each event. Festival hours: June 8, 5-9 p.m.; June 9, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; June 10, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $2, children under 12 free. 482-1273.
* Comedy--The Three Amigos Tour 2001 will make a stop June 9 at Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way. The tour features comedians Carlos Mencia, Pablo Francisco and Freddy Soto. The performers’ credits include appearances on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, “Mad TV” and the “Tonight Show.” Show time: 8 p.m. $23.50-$39.50. 486-2424.
* Cars, Chili--Simi Valley Knights of Columbus will hosts the 14th annual Chili Cook-Off and Car Show on June 10 at St. Rose of Lima School, 1305 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. There will be cash and people’s choice awards for the chili contest, while the car show will feature street rods, classic and custom cars and trucks, and muscle cars. Also on tap, live country music, a mariachi band, cowboy stunts, horseshoe and basketball shooting contests, children’s activities and more. * Jewish Concert--Recording artist David “Dudu” Fisher will present “An Evening of Jewish Song and Renaissance” June 12 at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Kavli Theatre, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Fisher’s credits include playing Jean Valjean in Broadway’s “Les Miserables” and singing the voice of Moses in Steven Spielberg’s “The Prince of Egypt.” Show time: 7:45 p.m. $18-$72. 449-2787.
