Forward Horace Grant, who returns to Staples Center tonight as a member of the Orlando Magic, will be presented the championship ring he earned with the Lakers last season in his locker room.

That’s the way Grant, who signed with the Magic as a free agent, wants it, saying thanks, but no thanks to a courtside presentation.

“I think he wanted it that way so he wouldn’t be under the gun,” Laker Coach Phil Jackson said. “He might have gotten some boos out there. I am real happy for him. He is one of my favorite players.”
