Lions’ Consolation is Victory
Marcus Smith scored 18 points and Loyola Marymount held on to beat Mississippi Valley State 74-65 in a Guardians Classic tournament consolation game Wednesday.
Andy Osborn scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds to help the Lions, with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first half. Loyola Marymount shot 48% from the field.
Ashley Robinson led Mississippi Valley State with 16 points.
The Lions went on a 19-3 run in the first minute of the second half to build the lead to 54-30, but the Delta Devils inched their way back to within six points.
Loyola forged a 35-27 lead by halftime as Mississippi Valley State managed only 27% shooting in the first half.
Kent Dennis scored 13 points for the Lions. Eurskine Robinson had nine rebounds and Greg Ladey eight.
