Duke Brushes Aside South Carolina

Duke (2-0) used a 19-0 run in the last five minutes of the first half and went on to defeat South Carolina, 81-56, Tuesday in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational at Lahaina, Hawaii. The Gamecocks fell to 1-1.

No. 4 Kansas 95, Houston 78--The Jayhawks (1-1) scored a victory against the Cougars (0-2) at the Maui Invitational.

No. 5 Missouri 75, No. 22 Alabama 68--Clarence Gilbert scored 18 points and the Tigers (3-0) advanced to the final of the Guardians Classic with a victory at Kansas City, Mo.

No. 9 Iowa 75, No. 12 Memphis 71--Luke Recker scored 20 points and Reggie Evans 19 as the Hawkeyes (4-0) held off the Tigers (3-1) in the semifinals of the Guardians Classic.

No. 14 Stanford 81, Southern Utah 63--Casey Jacobsen scored 23 points as the Cardinal (2-0) won their 14th consecutive home opener.

No. 15 Oklahoma State 82, Siena 64--The Cowboys (4-0) didn’t miss a shot or free throw in the final 7:32, turning a three-point deficit into a blowout victory at the Las Vegas tournament.

No. 21 Western Kentucky 90, Evansville 64--Freshman guard Patrick Sparks had 16 points and nine assists at Bowling Green, Ky., as the Hilltoppers pulled away from the Aces (1-1).

North Carolina is 0-2 at home for the first time in school history after a 58-54 loss to Davidson (1-1).... Andre Emmett scored a career-high 30 points and Andy Ellis added 20, leading Texas Tech past Southern Methodist, 78-75, at Dallas, making Bob Knight a winner in his first road game with the Red Raiders (3-0).... Center Billy Feeney scored a game-high 20 points to lead Portland State (2-0) to a 79-69 victory against Arizona State (1-1) at Tempe, Ariz.
