Fate of Dogs That Mauled Baby Uncertain
Two dogs that fatally mauled an infant Tuesday remain caged and quarantined at an animal shelter, and their future is uncertain.
The two 4-year-old Siberian huskies mauled Josie Hearon, who was 25 days old, Tuesday morning after the girl’s mother stepped out to the front porch to speak with a pest control worker.
Rialto police Det. Mary Ortiz said she would consult with the district attorney’s office before deciding what should be done with the dogs. A judge may order them to be destroyed or they may be released to their owners.
Huskies are not typically an aggressive breed and these two dogs had no history of violence, said Chris Springer, the San Bernardino County Animal Shelter supervisor.
