High Court OKs Ban on Father Having More Kids
The state Supreme Court affirmed a ban preventing a father of nine who owes child support from having more children unless he proves he will support all his offspring.
David Oakley claimed the court overlooked significant facts in his case--he said he had paid 70% of what he owed--when it decided in July to uphold the ruling by a Manitowoc County judge.
Oakley was sentenced to three years in prison on one count of failing to pay child support. On two other counts, he received five years of probation.
The judge said Oakley will go to prison if he has more children while on probation and doesn’t pay support. Oakley has nine children, ages 3 to 16, with four women.
