A Motherhood Star Is Born

Actress Patricia Heaton, who won an Emmy this year for her portrayal of the wife in the TV hit “Everybody Loves Raymond,” is the talk of the publishing underground. Uber-agent Mort Janklow won a “really big” contract for her this week with editor Bruce Tracy of Villard/Random House.

The working title of Heaton’s book is “Motherhood and Hollywood.” It’s a series of essays, both touching and funny. Doubtless, she will cover her Catholic childhood in Cleveland, her early days as an actress in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen and the four children she has outside of her TV series....

You have to feel for director, producer and writer Jon Avnet, whose two-part film “Uprising” premiered on NBC on the same nights as the Emmy Awards and the final game of the World Series. Most people missed this heroic true tale of Jewish resistance fighters battling the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.

So now Warner Bros. will put this epic in a limited theater release beginning Dec. 7. It’ll play Laemmle’s Fairfax Three in L.A.
