Worker Stabbed Outside Newspaper; 3 Men Sought

A pressroom employee of a Newhall newspaper was stabbed over the weekend outside the paper’s offices in Santa Clarita and then driven by three men to Saugus, where his body was dumped, authorities said.

The identity of the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was not released until relatives are notified. His body was discovered, covered with a sheet, on the 26000 block of Springbrook Avenue about 5:15 p.m. Sunday. A coroner’s investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

Witnesses said they saw three men earlier in the day assaulting the victim on the 24000 block of Creekside Road. By the time sheriff’s deputies arrived, the victim had been driven away in a blue 1995 Nissan Quest van with California license plates 4TBM666, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy Val Rosario said.

Tim Whyte, managing editor of the Signal newspaper, confirmed the victim was a pressroom employee.

Lon Adams, a pressroom maintenance worker, said the victim was friendly and had worked at the paper on and off for five years. Adams said the victim had a family and was a singer in a band.
