Venezuelan rock en espanol group Los Amigos Invisibles, fresh off performances at this summer’s big Watcha Tour, brings its seductive rumba-funk sound back to Orange County to the more intimate confines of Anaheim’s House of Blues.

Music

A native of South Korea and a member of the Chung Trio, Kyung-Wha Chung will play Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Pacific Symphony led by Carl St.Clair. The program will also include U.S. composer Michael Kurek’s new “That Which Remains Unspoken,” commissioned by the orchestra, and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” as orchestrated by Ravel. Kurek describes his score as “a lyrical and tragic aria for orchestra ... an aria without words.”

An icon in architecture, photographer Julius Shulman’s most famed images are showcased at the House of Photographic Art in San Juan Capistrano through Nov. 15. Shulman’s photographs have helped define the beauty of California architecture in the 20th century. Among the 12 pictures seen are buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, Charles Eames, John Lautner, Pierre Koenig and others. The exhibit is presented by the Museum of Architecture.

Seven Southern California artists show how bargain prices can inspire creativity in the new exhibition, “99-Cents Store Show,” opening at the Cypress College Fine Arts Gallery. Curated by Irvine Fine Arts’ Carl F. Berg, the show displays common objects found at the 99-Cents chain stores in unusual ways. The artists include Lynn Aldrich, James Buss, Ed Giardina, Doug Meyer, Brett Osborn, Jeanne Patterson and Steve Roden.

Ancient artifacts from Vietnam are on display in “Spirit of Vietnam: Ancient Bronzes and Ceramics” at Orange Coast College Art Gallery and Saddleback College Art Gallery. Featured in the exhibits are bronzes from the Dong Son culture, dating from 500 BC, drums used in the battlefield, hardstone earrings and ceramic vases from the Ly and Tran Dynasty of the 11th century to the 15th century. Many of the artifacts were carved in geometric shapes and animal motifs.
