Beating Oklahoma was not enough to lift Nebraska over top-ranked Miami in the Associated Press media poll.

The best the Cornhuskers could do after their 20-10 victory Saturday was replace the Sooners at No. 2. The Sooners (7-1) dropped to No. 3.

Miami (6-0) remained No. 1 for the third consecutive week after Thursday night’s 45-3 win over West Virginia. The Hurricanes received 55 first-place votes and 1,783 points Sunday from the 72 sports writers and broadcasters on the AP panel. The Huskers (9-0) had the remaining 17 first-place votes and 1,745 points in moving up from No. 3.

Florida Coach Steve Spurrier went public with a stinging critique of officials who called 12 penalties against the Gators during their 24-10 victory over Georgia. “We’re not supposed to talk about the officials, but some of those calls, they were bad,” Spurrier said.

Spurrier asked Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley to call Southeastern Conference Commissioner Roy Kramer to discuss the penalties. Spurrier said SEC director of officials Bobby Gaston should review the officials’ performance.
