Southern California communities are being considered for the trial of Marjorie Knoller and Robert Noel, charged with manslaughter in the dog-mauling death of their neighbor Diane Whipple.

Superior Court Judge James Warren named Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and San Diego counties as possibilities Friday. He agreed earlier this month to grant a change of venue because of pretrial publicity.

Whipple, 33, was attacked by two large dogs near her apartment door Jan. 26. The animals lived down the hall with their caretakers, Noel and Knoller. Warren is expected to decide Oct. 12 where to move the trial.
