Ball, Singer Advance
Second-seeded Carsten Ball of Newport Beach and No. 4-seeded Lee Singer of Laguna Niguel each advanced to the quarterfinals of the Easter Bowl/U.S. Tennis Assn. Super National Spring Championships Monday at Riviera Resort and Racquet Club in Palm Springs.
Ball, a freshman at Corona del Mar High, defeated 16th-seeded Jean-Yves Aubone of Miami, 6-3, 0-6, 6-0, in the fourth round. Singer, a freshman at Dana Hills High, defeated Jamie Hunt of San Antonio, 6-1, 6-2.
Alex Krueger-Wyman of Pasadena also advanced with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over Rook Schellenberg of Dallas.
