Christopher Price, 34; Anchored Irreverent ‘Liquid News’ on BBC

Christopher Price, 34, the popular anchor of the irreverent BBC entertainment news program “Liquid News,” died Monday of an apparent accidental overdose of painkillers in his London home.
Price, who described himself as “a fat, bald homosexual--not ideal television material at all,” was a rising BBC star who was scheduled to become host of a new prime-time “Weakest Link”-style quiz show.
As anchor of “Liquid News,” which covers film, music, TV and the arts, he was known for blending his solid journalism background with an acerbic and witty style of commentary. He usually referred to Madonna, for example, as a “42-year-old mother of two.”
Born in Norfolk in 1967, Price majored in Italian at Reading University. He joined the BBC as a trainee radio reporter in 1991. He joined Radio 5 Live, then moved to BBB News 24 in 1997.
He created his own program in May, signing a $363,000, two-year contract for “Liquid News” that put him on par with the network’s highest-paid anchors.
