A Noise Within Announces Plans for the Bard and More
Glendale’s classical theater company A Noise Within will stage two Shakespeares, a Marivaux, a Gozzi and a Cather in 2002-03.
“Macbeth” will open the season, Sept. 27-Nov. 30, directed by artistic directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez-Elliott. It will be joined in repertory by Marivaux’s “The Triumph of Love” (Oct. 11-Dec. 5), staged by Anne Justine D’Zmura, who has been a resident director for the Guthrie Theatre but is new to A Noise Within, and by Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” (Nov. 1-Dec. 8) under the direction of Adrian Giurgia, who directed last season’s “The Wild Duck.”
Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” will open the spring season, March 7-May 10, directed by A Noise Within newcomer Jessica Kubzansky. Willa Cather’s “O Pioneers” is slated for March 21-May 15, directed by Elliott and Rodriguez-Elliott. The season will end with Carlo Gozzi’s “The King Stag,” April 11-May 18, directed by Joe Graves.
Two productions from last season, both directed by Sabin Epstein, will briefly return: “A Wilde Holiday, Fairy Tales by Oscar Wilde,” Dec. 13-22, and William Inge’s “Bus Stop,” Jan. 31-Feb. 9.
“Bus Stop” will then go on a Southland tour.
