BW Old Smokey Looking for Another Win

Share

One of the hottest horses on the grounds earlier in the year, BW Old Smokey will try to start a new winning streak in tonight’s seventh.

A 3-year-old gelding bred in Arizona, the son of Pritzi Dash rattled off four consecutive wins before finishing second and third in his last two starts.

BW Old Smokey, who is owned by Rutilo Romero and trained by Paul Jones, will be making his first appearance since chasing Bac To Streak and Fly Home First in the Mega Dash Handicap on June 28.

Jockey Ramon Sanchez will be in his usual spot on BW Old Smokey, who will break from Post 5 in the field of six. The field in the $12,550 allowance at 350 yards includes Tux N Rolls, Yak Ity Yak Go, Justa Dance and Fulcrum.

The picks: 1. Contreras. 2. Sexy Seabreeze. 3. Make A Rare Run. 4. Frenchly. 5. Dealadash. 6. Proyen. 7. BW Old Smokey. 8. Control Freak.

Four! In the fifth, use Dealadash, Justa Diva and A Royal Of Class; use Proyen and Fat Tuesday in the sixth, single BW Old Smokey in the seventh and use the entry of Peggy Perfect-Control Freak, Jussis, Quick Ta Shine, Hey Cuz and Betty Jean Hawkins in the eighth.

Shots in the dark: Xelodonia could make the lead against a paceless field in the second. Beduino Classic debuts in the third against a weak field.

Post time: 7:15 p.m.
