Share

Beaten at 2-5 in his most recent appearance July 11, Dashin Bye will try to make amends in tonight’s ninth, a $12,550 allowance at 350 yards.

Owned by Mike Levi and Blane Schvaneveldt and trained by Schvaneveldt, the 4-year-old son of First Down Dash was third, beaten by a neck, in his second start of 2002.

In his first race of the year on June 22, Dashin Bye had been fourth in the Spencer Childers Handicap, a race won by A Ransom.

Those two defeats mean the California-bred has already lost one more race this year than he did in all of 2001. Dashin Bye won five of six as a 3-year-old at three tracks. He had two wins apiece at Lone Star Park and Ruidoso Downs, then won again at Los Alamitos Oct. 20.

Joe Badilla Jr. will ride Dashin Bye, whose foes include Drop Your Sox, A Secret Account, Dash Stepper, All American Jewel and Mutts Dandy Effort.

The picks: 1. Icey Gambler. 2. Twelve Again. 3. Sue Sues Asset. 4. Rubys Diggity Vet. 5. Departure Time. 6. Traffic Attraction. 7. Jake Blues. 8. Babe With Rhythm. 9. Dashin Bye. 10. You Move Me.

Four! Single Icey Gambler in the first, use Twelve Again, Rio Cheng and Pretty Dashing in the second, Sue Sues Asset and What A Swetie T T in the third, and Rubys Diggity Vet, Wanta Wild Dash and Summers Secret in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Legal Thief switches to jockey Ramon Guce in the fifth after a solid third despite a wide trip on Aug. 2. With Reflections steps up in the eighth after having been claimed for $10,000 by trainer Jaime Gomez.
