Two bodies that washed ashore in Huntington Beach have been identified as those of missing sport fishermen, authorities said Tuesday.

Dae Kyu Kim, 35, of Los Angeles and his uncle Hyong Kim of Burbank, 46, had been lost at sea for more than a week.

Lifeguards found Dae Kim’s body late Monday afternoon near Huntington Beach Pier. Hyong Kim’s body was recovered Tuesday afternoon at Bolsa Chica State Beach, about five miles away.

The Orange County coroner’s office has not determined cause of death for either man.

The two were reported missing after their 22-foot boat was found abandoned off Huntington Beach last week.

Investigators found a wallet, two cell phones and the keys to the boat.

Police said that the men had called relatives shortly before the boat was found to say that they were having a good time.

The Coast Guard searched a 1,400-square-mile area for more than 24 hours but failed to find the men. The seas at the time were calm, authorities said.
