Cincinnati Stuns Oregon
Tony Bobbitt, a junior college transfer, scored 29 points and Cincinnati’s defense was relentless as the Bearcats handed No. 5 Oregon a 77-52 loss in the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday at East Rutherford, N.J.
Bobbitt’s point total was one more than he had for the entire season. He made six of 11 shots from three-point range.
Cincinnati (5-2) held Oregon (6-1) to 40 points below its scoring average.
No. 3 Duke 91, North Carolina A&T; 57 -- Dahntay Jones scored a season-high 18 points, and the Blue Devils (6-0) forced 18 first-half turnovers against the Aggies (0-5) for an easy victory at Greensboro, N.C.
No. 15 Michigan State 80, Loyola of Chicago 54 -- Chris Hill had 18 points at East Lansing, Mich., to lead the Spartans (6-2) to a rout of the Ramblers (4-4) for their 34th consecutive victory over a nonconference opponent at home.
Richmond 83, No. 17 Stanford 69 -- Mike Skrocki scored 27 points as the Spiders (4-3) handed the Cardinal (5-3) its second loss in its tournament at Palo Alto. Stanford has lost consecutive nonconference home games for the first time since 1981.
