More on St. Croix crime troubles
Regarding Susan Spano’s article “Island Crime Problems Point to Trouble in Paradise” (Oct. 20): I have made St. Croix my vacation destination every January for the last 14 years, staying at a small hotel just outside Frederikstad.
At our hotel we are always cautioned about not venturing into town on foot after dark. I also have friends who live on the island year-round, and they say crime has gotten worse because of some locals who target restaurants outside resorts.
How sad it is that visitors have to watch their backs and that a small handful of island residents are succeeding in undermining the one vital industry that remains on the island: tourism.
