Free Stones show at Staples

Share

OK, now, no jokes about fossil fuels: The Rolling Stones are returning to Los Angeles with a special free concert at Staples Center to raise awareness about global warming.

The Feb. 6 show will bang the drum for the Natural Resources Defense Council and should cause a flurry of interest from fans with its ticket giveaway.

Fans can enter a sweepstakes to win two free tickets by filling out the entry form at www.nrdcstonesconcert.org or by mailing a 3x5 index card with their name, address, telephone number and date of birth to “NRDC Stones Concert, P.O. Box 15099, North Hollywood, CA 91615-5099.”

No donation is required to enter or win tickets.

Any Stones show remains one of the hottest tickets in all of music, and the New York-based advocacy group is thrilled with the prospect of the publicity the concert will engender. The group has 500,000 members and for 30 years has championed research and legislation to protect the environment.

“The Rolling Stones’ commitment will help build unprecedented support for NRDC efforts to fight global warming,” said council President John H. Adams.

The Stones are finishing up the North American leg of their tour, one of the highest-grossing road runs of 2002, and they will launch the international leg in Australia on Feb. 18, with shows to follow in Asia and Europe.
