Notre Dame Gets Booker’s Attention

Share

Running back Lorenzo Booker of Ventura St. Bonaventure has added a recruiting visit to Notre Dame on Jan. 18.

Booker, who rushed for a state-record 8,502 yards and 137 touchdowns, said he solidified his decision last week when Notre Dame signed former Stanford coach Tyrone Willingham to a six-year contract.

“I like running behind big linemen and I know they’re getting a bunch of guys like that,” Booker said. “Plus, I’m interested in Coach Willingham.”

Booker rushed 12 times for 70 yards, including touchdown runs of two and 15 yards, in the East-West all-star game last weekend. Four of the starting offensive linemen in that game have committed to Notre Dame, including Booker’s high school teammate, James Bonelli.

Booker has visited Florida State and Washington. He said he will visit USC before the national letter of intent signing date of Feb. 6.
