Galaxy Gets Washington in Opener

Share

The Galaxy, which is playing its final season at the Rose Bowl before moving to its proposed stadium in Carson, will open its seventh Major League Soccer season on March 23 against Washington D.C. United.

The demise of the Miami Fusion and the Tampa Bay Mutiny means the league will be divided into two conferences, with the Galaxy playing in the Western Conference with Colorado, Dallas, Kansas City and defending champion San Jose.

The All-Star Game will be played Aug. 3, while the 2002 MLS Cup is set for Oct. 20. Sites for both games have yet to be determined.
