Businessman Sentenced for Evading Taxes
Steven Daetweiler, 39, owner of S&D; Tires in Anaheim, was sentenced to 10 months in prison Monday after pleading guilty to evading federal income taxes on money he fraudulently obtained from Orange residents.
According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Daetweiler conspired with Jeffrey Hambarian, former head of Orange Refuse Service, to fabricate the sale of tires to Orange Refuse, which then submitted the transaction to the city for reimbursement.
Hambarian is awaiting trial in Superior Court on state charges of defrauding Orange of more than $4 million. He pleaded not guilty.
