What: “The Ultimate Blooper Collection From 25 Years of ‘This Week in Baseball’ ”

Price: $14.95 (VHS), $19.95 (DVD).

A good baseball blooper, much like a “Three Stooges” episode, never gets old, which makes this video worth watching.

The expected bloopers are featured--the ball that bounced off Jose Canseco’s head for a home run, Steve Lyons dropping his pants at first base--but there are many other less memorable plays that are just as funny.

In a segment titled “When Bloopers Go Good,” Paul O’Neill, then with the Cincinnati Reds, bobbles a ball on a hit to right field with the potential winning run at second base. Thinking he has blown the play, O’Neill angrily kicks the ball. His 30-yard boot amazingly goes right to the first baseman, keeping the runner at third.

The video, from Major League Baseball Productions, also has a segment on baseball pranks. In one of the more hilarious ones, Toronto Blue Jay teammates of Derek Bell get hold of his customized truck and bring it out to the field, announcing to the crowd that one lucky fan will drive away with the vehicle. Bell’s expression is priceless.

There are special features on three of the game’s biggest characters--Mark Fidrych, Jose Lima and Tom Lasorda. The DVD version also has bloopers from each season and other outtakes worth watching.
