The Seattle Mariners feel right at home deep in the heart of Texas.

Bret Boone and Mike Cameron homered, and the Mariners beat the Texas Rangers, 6-3, Wednesday night for their eighth consecutive victory at Arlington, Texas.

Seattle has won all five games in Texas this season, and 11 of 14 the last two seasons.

“There’s no rhyme or reason, we’re just a team that seems to play very well on the road,” Boone said. “We just take the same approach every game, and don’t take any team for granted.”

The American League West-leading Mariners, who lost their two games at Baltimore earlier this week, are 18 games ahead of the last-place Rangers.

Boone hit a solo homer in the second, a 406-foot drive to right-center field that gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead. After Boone drew a leadoff walk in the fourth, Cameron hit his 17th homer.

Jamie Moyer (10-4) gave up two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out four and gave up his first walk in four starts.

“It was a so-so performance,” Moyer said. “I kept them off-balance early.”

New York 2, Detroit 1--Jason Giambi and Jorge Posada lifted the Yankees with run-scoring singles in the bottom of the ninth at New York.

Mark Redman (5-9) had given up three hits through eight innings, but gave up a leadoff double to Alfonso Soriano and walked Derek Jeter.

Bernie Williams popped out to shallow center before Giambi drove in the tying run. After Raul Mondesi fouled out, Posada singled down the left-field line to drive in Jeter.

Toronto 7, Baltimore 1--Roy Halladay (11-4) gave up one run and five hits in eight innings, and Ken Huckaby hit an inside-the-park home for host Toronto.

Vernon Wells hit a three-run homer and tied a career-high with four runs batted in.

Huckaby hit a ball in the second inning that bounced in front of diving right fielder Gary Matthews Jr., who thought it was foul and took his time retrieving the ball as Huckaby rounded the bases.

Boston 6, Tampa Bay 1--Derek Lowe gave up two hits in eight innings at St. Petersburg, Fla., and Manny Ramirez homered for the second consecutive game for the Red Sox.

Lowe (13-5) retired nine in a row before Randy Winn doubled in the fourth. Aubrey Huff doubled with two out to drive in Tampa Bay’s run.

Lowe struck out three and walked one to win for only the second time in his last five decisions. He retired his last 11 batters and didn’t give up a hit after the fourth.

Minnesota 8, Cleveland 5--Torii Hunter fired his own fastball back at Indian pitcher Danys Baez after being drilled by a pitch at Cleveland.

Hunter, angered at being hit in the left side, retaliated in the fifth inning by picking up the ball and hitting Baez--about 40 feet away--in the upper leg.

Jim Thome hit his 28th homer for Cleveland, a two-run drive.

Kansas City 8, Chicago 6--Brent Mayne went four for four with four RBIs at Kansas City, Mo., and the Royals won their sixth consecutive game.

Mayne had a two-run single in the second and run-scoring singles in the fourth and sixth innings. He tied his career high for hits.

Frank Thomas was four for five with three doubles, one driving in two runs against rookie reliever Ryan Bukvich that pulled Chicago within two runs in the seventh.
