Concert of Experimental Music at Schindler House

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Schindler House in West Hollywood will be the site of a concert by experimental musicians interacting with the acoustics of the historic Modernist landmark. The concert, with a performance by Joe Potts and others, is part of a series sponsored by the MAK Center for Art and Architecture and produced by the Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound.

The house is at 835 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood. Parking is available at the structure at the northeast corner of Kings Road and Santa Monica Boulevard. Admission is $12 in advance; $15 at the door; students and members $9. Doors open at 7 p.m. Information: (323) 651-1510; www.soundNet.org.

* On Sunday, “Warm, Dry, and Noble: The Philosophy of Samuel Mockbee” will be presented by a group of architects at the UCLA Hammer Museum. Mockbee was an architect whose teaching approach emphasized a connection between aesthetics, construction and community. He directed his students at Auburn University in Alabama to explore ideas that created something “warm, dry, and noble.”

* The work of William Morris, considered by many to be the father of the Arts and Crafts movement, is on display through Sept. 22 at the Huntington Library. “William Morris: Creating the Useful and the Beautiful” is the first exhibition to be mounted from the library’s collection of Morris material, purchased in 1999.

The exhibition highlights more than 70 examples of Morris’ work, from stained-glass windows to printed and woven textiles. The Huntington is at 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino. Admission is $10. Information: (626) 405-2100; www.huntington.org.
