Stinson-Led Sting Prevails

Andrea Stinson scored five of her 17 points in overtime to lead the visiting Charlotte Sting to a 73-66 victory over the Cleveland Rockers on Wednesday before 15,170.

Stinson made a three-point basket to give the Sting (14-9) a 64-60 lead with 3:36 left in overtime and it never got closer.

Merlakia Jones scored 20 points to lead Cleveland (8-15).

Minnesota 70, Utah 62--Michelle Van Gorp triggered a first-half lead and Katie Smith preserved it as the Lynx (7-15) ended a seven-game skid by beating the Starzz (16-8) before 7,326 at Minneapolis.

Smith scored 20 points and Van Gorp had 18, including 10 in the first half. Smith had 17 points in the second half.

Marie Ferdinand and Jennifer Azzi had 13 points apiece for the Starzz.
