Senegal’s Success Supported From Above
Amazing Senegal has even caught the Vatican’s attention.
“Good team work also for Christian-Muslim co-existence,” said Fides, the news agency of the Vatican’s missionary service, a day after Senegal upset Sweden to reach the World Cup quarterfinals.
In a report Monday from Dakar, Senegal, Fides quoted a Father Tony of the National Pontifical Mission Societies office as saying that followers of both religions are praying for the team
“The Senegalese people are deeply religious and they respect all religions,” he told Fides. “The football team is also proud to represent Africa to the rest of the world.”
