Fly Home First Tries Again for No. 3

Share

Twelve days after a disqualification, Fly Home First will try again for his third victory in tonight’s $15,000 Mega Dash Handicap at 550 yards.

Owned by Debra Horrocks and the Double Bar S Ranch and trained by Dan Francisco, Fly Home First won an allowance race by a neck June 16, then was dropped to sixth place for interference after veering in.

The 3-year-old Strawfly Special gelding will break from the rail under jockey Eddie Garcia as he stretches an additional 200 yards. He finished third, beaten by 1 1/4 lengths by War And Remembrance, the last time he tried 550 yards.

Because of their common ownership, Fly Home First will be coupled with Youcancallmefly, who will break directly outside of him under jockey Joe Badilla Jr.
