UNLV Rolls to Upset Over Colorado State

Constance Jinks scored a career-high 36 points, and Linda Frohlich led a key second-half run as Nevada Las Vegas beat No. 18 Colorado State, 72-58, Friday in the Mountain West Conference tournament semifinals at Las Vegas.

The fourth-seeded Rebels advanced to today’s final against Brigham Young, a 71-58 winner over New Mexico.

Frohlich scored five of her 18 points in an 11-2 run midway through the second half that put the Rebels in front, 54-43, with 6:15 remaining. Frohlich also had 17 rebounds.

Jinks made 11 of 19 from the field and 13 of 14 free throws.

UNLV (23-6) sealed the win by making 12 consecutive free throws in the final 1:37.

Colorado State (24-6) got 20 points and eight rebounds from Angie Gorton.

Colonial--Okiesha Howard had 18 points, including a key three-point basket with 1:01 remaining in overtime, to help No. 15 Old Dominion defeat George Mason, 68-63, in the Colonial Athletic Assn. tournament semifinals at Norfolk, Va.

Old Dominion (24-5) will play UNC-Wilmington (16-13) in today’s final. The Lady Monarchs, winners of 32 consecutive CAA tournament games, needed to make four of four free throws in the last 48 seconds of regulation to tie it at 56.

WAC--Brooke Lassiter scored 14 points, including eight free throws in the final two minutes for No. 8 Louisiana Tech in a 57-42 win over Tulsa in the Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinals at Tulsa, Okla.

The top-seeded Lady Techsters (24-4), winners of 22 of their last 23 games, will play Hawaii (23-6) for the championship today. Third-seeded Hawaii beat Rice, 59-36, in the other semifinal.
