Woman Arrested After Driving Into Ocean
A woman was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment Thursday after driving through a wall and into the ocean off Balboa Peninsula with her 5-year-old daughter in the car. Sgt. Steve Shulman, a spokesman for the Newport Beach Police Department, said investigators suspect Jessica Yarusinski, 36, had been drinking when the accident happened about 7 p.m. at the end of 20th Street.
The daughter was taken into protective custody.
The car--about 20 feet offshore in about 10 feet of water--was pulled out with a tow truck, Shulman said.
