In searching for clues about the disappearance of 2-year-old Jahi Turner, police and other volunteers continued combing through the city landfill and a canyon near the boy’s home Friday without success.

In a bizarre twist, police raking garbage at the Miramar landfill found an envelope with the name of Steven Feldman, attorney for David Westerfield. Westerfield is accused of the February kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Danielle van Dam.

Police spokesman David Cohen said the envelope was impounded until the judge in the case decides where the contents should be sent.

Cohen said police estimated that the search through 5,000 tons of trash should be completed by Monday night. Police, Marines, sailors and others have been examining the trash since Tuesday morning.

The landfill is near the home of Jahi’s mother and stepfather, Tameka and Tieray Jones, but police have not said what prompted them to search it.

Jahi disappeared April 25. His stepfather says that he took the boy to a park and left him for 15 minutes. The boy was gone when he returned, he said.
